Ellsworth County Medical Center Names Director of Nursing

The newest member of the Ellsworth County Medical Center (ECMC) leadership team was recently selected.  Laura S. Stofferson, RN, BSN, CCRN has accepted the position of Director of Nursing for ECMC.  Stofferson comes to ECMC with a high level of previous experience and education.   She holds a Master’s degree in Nursing with Business Management from Regis University in Denver, Colorado and a Bachelors in Nursing from Fort Hays State University.  She has completed classes toward a Masters degree in Nursing / Health Management from the University of Kansas.  Her current certifications include:  continuous renal re-perfusion therapy, Intra-aortic balloon pump, Advance Cardiac Life Support Instructor and Certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor and Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse.  Her accomplishments are too numerous to name, but are outstanding in her field.

Laura is not new to the Ellsworth area and has previously worked for ECMC.  “I like living in Ellsworth.  It feels much like I’m coming back home.  My children and grandchildren all live in the area, so it’s a very nice fit for our family.” commented Laura.  In more recent years Laura has held a variety of ever-increasing professional roles including:  Legal Nurse Consultant; Director, Medical / Surgical / Pediatrics; Clinical Educator; Interim Director of Intensive Services (including ICU, ER, Cardiac Rehabilitation & Respiratory Therapy); Critical Care Charge Nurse and Educator; Case Manage / Intake Coordinator and most recently Chief Nursing Officer.  With over twenty years as a clinical leader, Laura feels that her greatest strengths lay in:  Physician Relations, Information Technology, Patient Relations, Reimbursement Regulations, Staff Education and Case Management.

“We are very fortunate to have found a candidate with ties to the Ellsworth area.” stated Roger Masse CEO.  “Laura returns to ECMC after obtaining years of education and experience in quality management, staff education and clinical expertise.”  Stofferson officially began her duties on January 26, 2012.
